    WHY WE RECOMMEND THIS ITINERARY

Visit the world's largest conservation area, the Kavango-Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area

    • Moremi Game Reserve has the most diverse habitat and animal populations in Botswana. The reserve contains about a quarter of the Okavango Delta and stretches across several thousand square kilometres, comprising a stunning landscape of forests, lagoons, floodplains and islands.
    • Machaba Camp is a classic camp decorated in an understated 1950s colonial style.
    • Nambwa Tented Lodge, nestled high amongst majestic Jackalberry, Sausage and Knobthorn trees, is an unobtrusive hideaway in the Bwabwata National Park.
    FREQUENT QUESTIONS
    • What is the best time to go?

All year round is good for both destinations, and each time of the year has a different appeal. In both areas, it can be very hot and humid in the month of October. The main rainy season for both regions is between November and February, but even this period, which is known as the “green season,” is a wonderful time to visit. The floodwaters build, peaking in September, and the thinning foliage allows for greater visibility in spotting wildlife.

    • How customisable is this tour?

Easily customisable to extend or reduce stays in each of the destinations or even substitute an alternative property within the Okavango Delta, should availability be limited for the period you wish to travel over. There are multiple access points for each destination and the order of the itinerary can be reversed as well.

    • Is this a family-friendly trip?
African Monarch Lodges love hosting young ones at Nambwa Tented Lodge. A Junior Ranger mini-course is offered during scheduled dates, and for the balance of the year, no set program is offered. However, there will be a range of great activities to keep young guests fully entertained during their stay.

Machaba is one of the few safari lodges in Botswana where children of all ages are welcome. Two sets of family tents at Machaba camp each have two separate sleeping areas, each with its own oversized bed, comfortably catering for four guests in total.

    • Are there any restrictions on luggage?

When packing for a safari holiday, including Botswana, less is more. The maximum luggage allowance on scheduled charter aircraft flights is 20 kg (44 lb) per person in soft-sided luggage, plus one piece of hand luggage or a camera bag. Where space allows, additional seats may be booked for excess luggage. Each additional seat that you book enables you to travel with an additional 70 kg (154 lb) of luggage.
