Safari Stories: "What African Monarch Lodges Means To Me"
Introducing our new blog series, Safari Stories, in which we give you a glimpse behind the scenes of our daily lives at African Monarch Lodges.
Sometimes we’ll share videos or quotes from our team offering insights into what they love about their work or a new skill they may have learned on the job. Other times we might ask a team member to write the blog themselves, allowing them to share their experiences and inspirations in their own words.
In this blog, we introduce four of our core team members at Nambwa Tented Lodge – Keenan, Eustus, Mpo and Lidiah – asking them to briefly share what African Monarch Lodges means to them and what sets us apart from other lodges.
“We are family run, and authenticity runs deep in our blood”
Keenan Collins, manager at Nambwa Tented Lodge
“I think what separates us is the fact that we’re a very family run company. The biggest compliment we constantly get is that our staff are so friendly and everyone is so happy. I think it’s because it’s a very young group of staff members and we have passion for our work. We all have this idea that we are headed in the same direction – as a unit and as a family. We can offer what any other lodge can offer but when it comes to authenticity and the willingness to give more than you are required to, I think it runs deep in all of our blood.”
“My job allows me to keep educating myself”
Eustus Mushe Libulelo, guide at Nambwa Tented Lodge
“I have been working at Nambwa since the lodge first started. The best thing about my job is about educating myself. Every day when I take my guests out, they ask me a lot of questions. Some of the questions I panic … I have to check my guidebook; some of them I know. So I have been learning since the very first time I started going out on game drives with the guests. This is something I like so much – even when I’m older, I want to keep doing this job. I love this place.”
“I love interacting with our guests”
Mpo Silengano, waitress at Nambwa Tented Lodge
“The best thing about my job is that it allows me to interact with people, getting to know each other and sharing information from different countries. I love to socialise with people. To me, African Monarch Lodges is like a family – in fact, my mother is also working here!”
“Everyone is so friendly”
Lidiah Inonge Silengano, waitress at Nambwa Tented Lodge
“I love working here at African Monarch Lodges. The place is just so nice and people are so friendly!”
