This itinerary combines Bwabwata National Park, a protected area in northeastern Namibia, with the Okavango Delta, a vast inland river delta in northern Botswana. Both are part of the Kavango–Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area, which is the world’s largest conservation area, established in 2007 and covers 6,274 km2 (2,422 sq mi).

Nambwa Tented Lodge is uniquely situated inside the Bwabwata National Park in the heart of KAZA, nestled high amongst majestic trees, honoring the elephants’ right of way below. An authentic walkway joins decadently spacious tented suites, which emanate a feeling of vastness and evoke a gentle balance of serenity. Here you enjoy memorable African experiences on foot, by boat or vehicle, up close and personal with some of the biggest herds of elephants. Soak up the breathtaking sunsets over the infamous Horseshoe Lagoon with animals silhouetted in purple hues over the water.

Machaba Camp
Machaba Camp is a classic camp decorated in an understated 1950’s colonial style. Lying on the banks of the Khwai River and boasting views of the Moremi Game Reserve, it is one of the most exquisite affordable camps within the region. With its 10 tented rooms, relaxed feel, abundance of game viewing and fine dining it makes for the ideal safari destination for couples and families. Whether it’s taking a game drive or a walking safari, skimming over the waters of the Okavango Delta in a mokoro canoe, spotting predators at night or visiting a remote village school, the guides will show you Africa.
Day 9
End of Itinerary
Check out of your lodge after a final morning game drive and breakfast at leisure. You will be transferred back to the airstrip by your ranger. Board your scheduled charter flight back to Maun Airport from where you will be able to connect to your next destination.

Frequently Asked Questions
All year round is good for both destinations and each time of the year has a different appeal. In both areas, it can be very hot and humid in the month of October. The main rainy season for both regions is between November and February but even this period, which is known as the “Green Season” is a wonderful time to visit. e the floodwaters build, peaking in September, and the thinning foliage allows for greater visibility in spotting wildlife.
Easily customisable to extend or reduce stays in each of the destinations or even substiture an alternative property within the Okvanago Delta should availability be limited for the period you wish to travel over. There are mutiple access points for each destination and the order of the itinerary can be reversed as well.
African Monarch Lodges love hosting young ones at Nambwa Tented Lodge. A Junior Ranger Mini course is offered during scheduled dates and for the balance of the year, no set program is offered however there will be a range of great activities to keep young guests fully entertained during their stay.
Machaba is one of the few safari lodges in Botswana where children of all ages are welcome. 2 sets of family tents at Machaba camp each have two separate sleeping areas, each with it’s own oversized bed, comfortably catering for four guests in total.
When packing for a safari holiday including Botswana, less is more. The maximum luggage allowance on scheduled charter aircraft flights is 20kg (44lb) per person in soft sided luggage, plus one piece of hand luggage or a camera bag. Where space allows, additional seats may be booked for excess luggage. Each additional seat that you book enables you to travel with an additional 70kg (154lb) of luggage.
